The next UV-Filter
SAFER E MORE POWERFUL
The UV shield for a new class of bio-based products
Pink Layer is extracted from the S-Layer of an extremophile bacterium: the Deinococcus radiodurans, the most radiation-resistant organism ever. It is the key to the survival of this microorganism and protects it from high doses of radiation.
Bacfarm presents the Pink Layer as a new UV filter for the cosmetic market, which is undergoing enormous changes to propose more sustainable and safer solutions. In fact, common UV filters present several critical issues for human health and the marine environment.
HOW IT WORKS
Pink Layer protects human skin from UV rays by simulating the same mechanism of action that contributes to the radiation resistance of the bacterium D. radiodurans: it combines a high absorption capacity with an antioxidant effect.
Its high photostability makes it unique: its protection from UV rays does not fade after a few minutes, as it happens with many filters used today.
This safer and more effective UV filter represents an opportunity for a new generation of more sustainable and performing cosmetic products.
